Special notes:
The building marks the entrance to the Am Sandtorkai quarter. Hamburg architect Jan Störmer has designed a modern building that totally harmonizes with its traditional local surroundings. Punctuated by windows, the structure’s north-facing closed façade is reminiscent of the historic Speicherstadt warehouse buildings it overlooks. In all other respects the building embraces the water of the Sandtorhafen harbor, its expansive glass frontage affording clear views of the historic ships below. Sited directly adjacent to the Magellan Terraces, the building is also a prime location for outdoor dining. HafenCity's first restaurant, the Chilli Club, opened here on July 14, 2005.
