Special features:
Starting in 2006, the Hamburg-America-Center has been built on the site formerly occupied by a coffee warehouse operated by N.H.L Hinsch & Cons. A separate company, Immobiliengesellschaft Hamburg-America-Center Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG, was established in December 2003 by Drees & Sommer AG to oversee the project.
The Hamburg-America-Center provides Hamburg with a permanent base from which to promote its cultural and economic ties with America and its sister city, Chicago. The Center is home to US-based companies and services providers as well as non-US-based companies and organizations which maintain strong links with America. The Hamburg-America-Center’s new office suites and conference rooms also serve as venues for a number of Euro-American clubs, including Hamburg’s esteemed American Business Club.
The development is a genuine architectural highlight, as the project managers have engaged the services of world-famous New York firm Richard Meier to design the building. The “Magician of Light” has presented a magnificent structural concept that combines imposing glass façades with striking white metal surfaces.
