Marco Polo Tower at Hamburg´s HafenCity wins MIPIM Award 2010

The "real estate oscar" in the Residential Developments category went to the 56 meter high Marco Polo Tower in the HafenCity. The Marco Polo Tower and the Unilever head office form the first building ensemble at Strandkai; by Behnisch Architekten.

At the international real estate show, Marché International des Professionels de l’Immobilier (MIPIM), the annual MIPIM awards were presented in five categories. The award underlines the architectural quality of the HafenCity and shows the internetional appreciation of Europe´s currently largest inner-city developement project. the firm of Behnisch Architekten from Stuttgart won the architectural competition.

Trade visitors chose the Marco Polo Tower ahead of Copenhagen’s Havneholmen project and the Newton Suites in Singapore. The 15 candidates for the MIPIM Awards were chosen from the selected applications in five categories. Trade visitors were asked to vote for their favorites during the MIPIM show. At the end of 2009, the Marco Polo Tower already received five stars at the European Residential Property Awards as the “Best high-rise development Germany”.
