4. Hamburg Climate Week in HafenCity

During the 4th Hamburg climate week - Klimawoche - guests have the chance to experience the scientific and economic strengths of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region on the subject of climate protection. Events will be taking place between 24 and 30 September 2012 in and around the Unilever building in HafenCity.

More than 100 participants, under the patronage of Jakob von Uexküll , founder of the World Future Council, will be showing the latest developments in renewable energies, electromobility, sustainability, climate research and protection, adaptation to global warming, as well as regional producers.

The centrepieces to the event are a climate theme park with a regional market “From the region – For the region”, and the “climate night” which takes place as part of the Europe-wide “Researchers’ night”. Hamburg schools are also offering courses on the subject and a climate concert is being performed in St. Petri church. The climate financial summit will gather in the Chamber of Commerce, Hamburg.

Partners in the event are the UN Environment Program (UNEP), HafenCity Hamburg GmbH, as well as FuturZwei, a sustainability trust. Hamburg’s Klimawoche is the most popular climate event in Europe for Germans, with participation of the Free & Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the European Union and HafenCity Hamburg GmbH.

Hamburg’s 2012 climate week is being financed out of climate protection funds of the Hamburg Senate, the European Union and additional sponsors and participants.
