HafenCity at the Expo Real 2006

From 23rd to 25th October, HafenCity Hamburg presented its current projects at the EXPO Real, the international real estate fair that took place in Munich. During a reception that was held jointly by the Hanseatic City and HafenCity on 24th October, Minister of Urban Development Dr. Michael Freytag promoted the Hamburg Architectural Olympics 2006, a competition inviting 80 national and international architectural firms to submit their designs for 10 developments within the city limits of Hamburg.

Jürgen Groß (Überseequartier Beteiligungs GmbH) presented the results of a number of architectural workshops and competitions which produced outstanding designs for Überseequartier. Jürgen Bruns-Berentelg, Chairman of HafenCity Hamburg GmbH, presented the architectural designs for Chicago Square, which had been produced during a "brainstorming session" of five architectural firms from Chicago in the spring of this year.
For this year's ExpoReal, the City of Hamburg had booked a larger stand at the fair and the number of participants from Hamburg had increased to 30. This year, 1,638 exhibitors from 40 countries were present at this important international real estate show which attracted a record number of 21,000 visitors from 65 nations.
