Change of personnel at the head of HafenCity Hamburg GmbH: On Tuesday, September 15, 2020, Dr Andreas Kleinau joined the executive board of HafenCity Hamburg GmbH, now consisting of three members for a transitional period, and will take over as CEO on November 1, 2021. Prof. Jürgen Bruns-Berentelg and Giselher Schultz-Berndt are expected to retire October 2021.

After studying business administration at the University of Hamburg and obtaining a doctorate in business data processing, Dr Andreas Kleinau (born 1966 in Hamburg) began his professional career in 1993 with Quickborner Team, a company specializing in organizational and real estate consultancy. Five years later he founded macon Gesellschaft für Unternehmensberatung mbH, based in Munich. Here, Dr Kleinau developed location strategies, building concepts as well as innovative work and organization solutions on behalf of national and international companies and turned the owner-managed consultants into one of the best regarded consultancy firms in the German real estate industry.

In 2015, Dr Kleinau and his co-partners founded the internationally active real estate consultancy company combine Consulting GmbH with offices in Hamburg, Berlin, Munich and Düsseldorf, which resulted from a merger of macon and Quickborner Team.

At combine and its predecessor companies, Andreas Kleinau looked after numerous well-known clients from business and the public sector in connection with the development of their corporate real estate strategies. In an advisory role, he supported the decision-making processes for numerous major projects, including in HafenCity. These include the new corporate headquarters of Spiegel, DNVGL, Unilever and New Work (formerly XING).

The new director is looking forward to the new challenge: “HafenCity is one of the most spectacular urban development projects in Europe. In the real estate industry, there can hardly be a more varied and therefore more complex task than managing HCH, which is doing very successful work with an outstanding team,” says Dr Kleinau.
