Prof. Jürgen Bruns-Berentelg

Since 2003 Jürgen Bruns-Berentelg has been CEO of HafenCity Hamburg GmbH, a public company owned by the City State of Hamburg, charged with the development of HafenCity, Billebogen, the Grasbrook district opposite HafenCity, and the new Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld. HafenCity Hamburg is one of the most import city center and waterfront development projects in the world today, with an outstanding international and national reputation. For many, HafenCity stands as a blueprint. Building on the results of the HafenCity development, the other major urban development projects, launched in 2015, 2017 and 2019, will involve even higher aspirations at many levels of action for future-oriented, particularly sustainable urban development.

Prior to joining HafenCity, he occupied executive positions with British, U.S. American and German real estate companies, being involved in major projects such as the new main station in Berlin and the Sony Center at Postdamer Platz, also in Berlin.

Jürgen Bruns-Berentelg studied geography and biology and is also a real estate economist. In 2014 he was made Professor (hc) of Integrated Urban Development at HafenCity University hamburg. He is a national and international speaker on issues of large-scale innovative urban development and publishes regularly.

Dr Andreas Kleinau

After studying business administration at the University of Hamburg and obtaining a doctorate in business data processing, Dr Andreas Kleinau (born 1966 in Hamburg) began his professional career in 1993 with Quickborner Team, a company specializing in organizational and real estate consultancy. Five years later he founded macon Gesellschaft für Unternehmensberatung mbH, based in Munich. Here, Dr Kleinau developed location strategies, building concepts as well as innovative work and organization solutions on behalf of national and international companies and turned the owner-managed consultants into one of the best regarded consultancy firms in the German real estate industry.

In 2015, Dr Kleinau and his co-partners founded the internationally active real estate consultancy company combine Consulting GmbH with offices in Hamburg, Berlin, Munich and Düsseldorf, which resulted from a merger of macon and Quickborner Team.

At combine and its predecessor companies, Andreas Kleinau looked after numerous well-known clients from business and the public sector in connection with the development of their corporate real estate strategies. In an advisory role, he supported the decision-making processes for numerous major projects, including in HafenCity. These include the new corporate headquarters of Spiegel, DNVGL, Unilever, and New Work (formerly XING).

In Autumn 2020 Dr Andreas Kleinau joined the executive board of HafenCity Hamburg GmbH and will take over as CEO in November 2021.
